Checkpoint Six/GTA 6 Cars

The cars of GTA 6: few names, one obsession

Leonida runs on internal combustion. The trailers are a car show wearing a crime story — lowriders on hydraulics, muscle cars in motel parking lots, airboats flat-out across the swamp. And yet Rockstar has officially named only a garage-worth of vehicles. This page keeps the two categories straight: what is confirmed, and what the footage merely promises.

The confirmed garage

Every officially named vehicle so far comes from one place: Rockstar’s own store listing. The pre-order bonus is a ’55 Vapid Stanier — a ’50s take on the series’ eternal police-sedan nameplate, delivered with its own garage. The Ultimate Edition adds a ’95 Grotti Cheetah (the ’90s wedge supercar, this time with a model year attached), a ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy (the muscle nameplate gone beach-racing), the Shitzu Squalo speedboat, Jason’s safehouse vehicles, and a Classic Car Collection — plus the Ganado Retro Build, a retro restoration project for your ride.

Two things worth noticing in that list. Model years are back on the badge, which suggests Rockstar is treating cars as generational objects — a ’95 Cheetah implies other Cheetahs. And the words “collection” and “build” are doing quiet work: classic cars as a category, and a restoration you presumably work on, point at car ownership being a hobby in VI, not just transport.

What the footage shows without naming

The trailers and An Extended Look are dense with unnamed hardware, and it clusters into scenes Rockstar clearly wants you to remember. Lowrider culture — candy paint, wire wheels, hydraulics mid-bounce — sits at the centre of the Vice City street scenes. Muscle and tuner cars fill the motel lots and street-race shots of the mainland. The Grassrivers footage belongs to airboats, which are not a garnish: in swamp that shallow they are the only transport that makes sense. Jet skis carve the Keys, box trucks and semis move product across the state, and the police fleet — sedans, helicopters, airboats of their own — shows up in exactly the quantities you would expect from a series that counts wanted stars.

None of these have official names yet. The community has matched many silhouettes to returning nameplates, and much of that guesswork is probably right — but it is guesswork, and this page does not launder it into fact.

Customisation: strong signals, no spec sheet

Rockstar has not published a word about tuning menus. What it has published is circumstantial evidence stacked high: the Ultimate Edition ships the Ganado Retro Build — a restoration project, not just a paint job; its property roster includes Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop — two of the named properties are car shops; and the footage keeps returning to modified machinery like it is a supporting character. A game this committed to car culture without a deep customisation system would be a bait-and-switch out of character even for an industry that loves one. Expect it. Just know it is an expectation.

The number everyone wants

“How many cars?” has no official answer, so here is the honest triangulation. GTA V launched with roughly 240 vehicles in 2013 and passed 700 across a decade of GTA Online. Red Dead Redemption 2 — the last time Rockstar built a world this dense — replaced quantity with fidelity. GTA VI, built for one platform generation with thirteen years of tech gains, will almost certainly launch north of V’s count while the marketing keeps the exact figure for a beat closer to release. When a real number exists, it will be on this page with a source next to it.

Every garage, mapped — when it's real

At launch, our spoiler-safe map will track vehicles the way it tracks everything: where you actually found them, mod shops included, with nothing revealed ahead of your own drive. Until then, the Ultimate Edition page is where the only six confirmed vehicles live.
